Pamela Hill-Bristout: Call Center Agent
Can you share your background and what motivated/inspired you to join the Leafguard team?
Previously, I worked in healthcare. I was in that field for about 25 years, and I eventually wanted to try something different but still be able to help people. So, when the opportunity came about, I was already in the mindset of trying something different, and my thought was, “Why not?” As long as I’m still helping people, I would be happy because it motivates me to help others. Gutters were different for me, but I was willing to try it and liked it a lot. It was different. It wasn’t as stressful as healthcare, which I was trying to escape. I enjoy working here so I made a good decision.
How would you explain to your friends and family what working here is like?
When the slow season comes, it’s laid back. But during the busy season, it’s very competitive. I enjoy it, it’s fun! I have great coworkers, and we help each other. Our staff is phenomenal. Our supervisor and VP are fantastic; you couldn’t ask for a better team than those two. They provide us with all the new information and tools that we need. I also love that the company is in a high-tech, beautiful building. For anyone interested in working here, I think it would be a good opportunity as there’s a lot of growth in the company. The group that I work with is very competitive when it’s time to do leads, and many incentives come with that. It’s great.
What are some important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career?
Listening is critical. In the medical field, many sick people are going through a hard time. You must listen to the people, and you must have empathy. Even with the gutters, it is an investment, and it’s the person’s home we’re dealing with. They are spending a significant amount of money and may have a problem or concern. When they call in, we always try to listen first. They might be upset about something, and you must listen first. Let them vent. Then, we try to resolve the issue. Usually, we have a crew come out and solve the problem. But first and foremost, listening and empathizing with the customers is the most important thing.
Any advice for colleagues or individuals aspiring to advance their careers within the organization?
Stay consistent, stay positive, be a great communicator, and have a good relationship with your colleagues. Our leadership is excellent; they’ll allow you to go far. Good leadership is vital because it motivates you to come in every day.
I look forward to my job every day; each day, there are new challenges because different things come up every day. My advice would be to do your best job, be consistent, and help each other. That’s what we’ve been doing, and it works.
